Pellet guns, along with BB guns and airsoft guns, are the starting point of many young shooters and outdoorsmen. They are cheap, easy to use, and are remarkably durable.
As shooters grow up, they tend to put these guns down and begin focusing on the larger calibers for their increased killing ability and simply because things that go BOOM are fun.
However, in a SHTF situation, the humble pellet gun may once again take its place on the shoulders of many preppers as they rely on this small-caliber weapon to put food on their table.
But why would you rely on a pellet gun when you can so easily purchase much more powerful weapons?
For 4 reasons why you should hold onto that old pellet gun, continue to the next page.

Aren’t most pellets like .157?
.157 =/= .22
Standard is .177, but you can buy 0.20 and 0.22 caliber. You can get guns with both a .177 and .22 barrel.
Jarrod carter we should be good here lol
Lets not foreget the crossbow
Beat me to it Jim
Better to use for hunting small game honestly save you ammo
Of course larger bore, sacrifices velocity
I have the same one in the picture lol
Some .177 can reach 1400 fps .22 most average 950-1000 fps there are many videos on YouTube showing guys taking 60 and 70 pound Hogs with a .177 and .22 a 20 to 25 yards
This is what I have used to hunt squirrels for nearly 30 years of my life. Works just fine.
My first kill ever was a squirrel when I was five years old using a pellet gun… I got him right between the eyes too…. From that day on I’ve loved hunting and loved guns
There are some company’s making larger calibers ,but they are alot more money . There video’s on YouTube that show Hunter’s taking large game with them maybe check some of them out
Have 4
I have more than one. Excellent for small game and inexpensive to shoot. Also, no laws against owning an air rifle. They start at .177 and go up to .50 caliber.
does anyone here have an opinion on the quality of available pellet guns?
There also fun and cheap to shoot, and one who likes shooting should buy a high quality one so you can improve your shooting and you can do it in your back yard
If you can get a pellet mould then you will never run out of ammo with plenty of lead or my preference of copper being available . Copper pellets travel further with more penetrating ability .
I would rather have an AR -7 in my pack
Nice common sense article. All very valid reasons to have an air rifle in your survival gear.
1) cheap .
2) cheap ammo
2B) easy ammo to make .
3) they make little noise
4) food for hunting small animals .
5) good training weapon for the young .
6) And ecta
I even have a wrist rocket that shoots arrows
The 22lr is under rated and under appreciated.
I agree. I mainly want the AR 7 pilots rifle because it compacts down to just the stock easily fits in a go bag
Wow all senseless reasons.
Quiet, accurate and deadly…..
Yep the air gun will feed you we have taken ours out for two weeks in the winter and ate a meal every night killed with a pellet gun great tool

Where can one gey a mold? I live in Panama.
Nancy Cardoza I told you
Pellets are cheap to buy from ammo shop or online
Survival food , with a pellet gun
I’ve come across a few people selling pellet moulds on the internet but the youtube reviews haven’t been great with pellets being jammed in the barrel . In a SHTF situation how many pellets do you think you will need in ten years etc ? Save the worry and expence and get a mould .

how long will it take someone to notice the popularity of these and then try to put restrictions on them?
Great for small game, no need to destroy a carcas with a larger caliber.
Got several
Great now the price of pellet rifles will quadruple overnight
I’m inviting this page. It’s noting but the same articles and pictures regurgitated over and over. And to top it off the info in said articles and pictures are merely half informed.
” agh , I’ve been shot on the neck ” ” what with a , a fucking air rifle? ” – lock , stock and two smoking barrels
Good movie
Got one
I got one
Sling shots even better in a pinch can use rocks
I have a high powered pellet rifle and it usually cannot take anything down unless you get a perfect shot. They really aren’t powerful enough for game hunting of almost anykind.
Don’t forget the Nicon scope
I have a 9mm pellet rifle and it will knock the$#%&!@*out of anything. ,308 next!
I have one also
I have 2 good ones. Both are Remington break barrels. Rabbits and squirrels don’t stand a chance when I’m hunting.
YESSSSSSSSSSSSSS
They make excellent small game getters. Very cheap to shoot and very very quiet.
