3 Animals That Could Do More Harm Than Good if Eaten While Bugging Out

This is an odd time to be living for survivalists and preppers. All we hear from the media is how important lean meats are, that we need to stock up on bison and other low fat- high protein meats because it is better for us and, in the long run, we will be grateful for the things they do for our body and mind – etc.

Eating healthy lean meats is great but the truth is, when a chaos situation eventually happens, we will probably need fattier rations!

Times will already be lean as far as getting the sustenance we need so any extra fat we can get in our food will be a good thing!

And, of course, anyone who lives by their wits and hunts in the woods or wilderness can probably already tell you what are and are not the best animals to bag for dinner.

After the break, go over to the next page and read up on three animals that could do more harm than good if eaten when bugging-out!

Whole articles a pile of bs. In a survival situation you take whatever calories are available.

Take a rabbit or squirrel quarter the meat mix with wild herbs and wild veggies and mushrooms is you know how to harvest mushrooms and you will have killer meals. I know I do. However DO NOT PICK OR EAT ANY MUSHROOMS UNLESS YOU HSVE KNOWLEDGE OF MUSHROOMS BECAUSE YOU CAN BECOME VERY SICK EVEN DIE IF YOU EAT THE WRONG KIND. SAME GOES WITH OTHER WILD Edibles

totally. Don’t ONLY eat all of these perfectly edible things or you won’t get all the nutrients you need. Guess what, if you’re looking to survive and any of these are your only option, that’s what’s for dinner.

True. I’ve since unfollowed this page due to its pattern of uselessness.

4000+ calories a day? Going to continue your Iron man training during a survival situation? Lol

Wrong pick here for the third time this year. Just a taste though.
Fish have what’s called Omega-3 fatty acids (for the Lammers). That’s the fat your brain runs off of. Nuff said about that.
Organ meat will extend protein poisoning, maybe boil pine needles for vitamins.
U obviously haven’t meet a poor family from the Appilachian mountains is my assumption, So I won’t continue.

Click bait page…. I freaking hate having to wade through a ton of$#%&!@*to find one little tidbit of information that isn’t even worth reading.

The caloric count of pan fish is NOT a point that is worth mentioning for this article since they are SO EASY TO CATCH. I can catch 50 of these little fish in a couple of hours of just sitting and doing nothing. They are literally the easiest thing on the planet to catch, they will bite on a bare hook…

stupid article.I guess this is why my grandparents died form eating those horrible food sources.Either that,or it was because they were born in the 1800’s

  9. Tony Barone said:

Yeah, that was stupid. Let me see I got a lake full of bluegill that will bite string, or I could go hike several miles hunting. Then clean and carry it back. There’s your 4000 calories right there.

    I’ll save you the read:
    1) rabbits
    2) squirrels
    3) panfish

Reason? Because they are low in calories and in a survival situation you need more calories per day.

Reality … eat what you can to survive. Everyone will be losing weight in a survival situation anyway.

Best just huddle up and breath slowly to keep calorie- count down! Do nothing, survive longer! I’ll take my chances finding food though…

A rabbit stew (1) rabbit drain and save blood(do not drink blood, it will do what salt water does) pull the heart out cut open all the ventricular valves check for heart worms, pull the liver out check color (should be an even brown color, if purple with whitish blotches discard) save if good high in vitamin C. Scrape all fat off skin and intestines and save. Debone the meat save bones, collect cattail roots and tender parts just above the mud. Wild onions, wild mustard greens, poke salad leaves, chickweed if you’re lucky you’ll find purselane with the chickweed, nibble on it while collecting all available herbs and roots. If you’re not already learned in edible wild plants go buy Petersons field guides for edible and medicinal herbs now and start studying knowledge weighs nothing. Back to the rabbit stew cook meat fat and roots together add cracked bones too. Let it boil then slow simmer add blood, liver bits and heart bits. Then add wild onions chopped tops and greens. One healthy$#%&!@*stew that you will gain weight on.

That’s why the mountain men preferred dogs and horses to deer and elk because the dogs and horses had more fat! You can strave to death eating just deer and elk! You have to have fat to survive!!

  14. Barbara Clowers said:

4000 calories is quite an assumption. I doubt it. Protein is important and it’s hard to survive on just one food regardless.

  15. Tim Dove said:

Right lol! Pass me the blue gill please, next to crappie I love the taste of bluegills a lot of bones but I have a way of getting most of them out in one pull.

  16. James Stealey said:

Right, the author of this is making ridiculous connection. In a survival situation any calories are better than no calories. In a long term sustainability situation assuming a person would have a regular supply of only rabbits or only squirrel is delusional. Obviously a varied diet is best … this stuff just proves how silly 99% of the “survivalist” fad and the industry behind it actually is.

  17. James Stealey said:

Good luck finding 4000 calories a day in the wilderness is all I’m saying …

  18. Erik Petersen said:

If it comes down to survival- the animals they recommended are going to be in extreamly high demand and therefore, scarce. How many people with have access to chickens and goats when the world is dying?!

  19. Pat Mongold said:

I’d have to see the science for this, fish have fatty acids to compensate for the low calories I thought, hard to believe some of these

  20. Kyle McClure said:

Those planning on a single food source are dead anyway. Moral of the story, eat EVERYTHING you can.

  21. Stanley Olsen said:

Avoid Magpies. They taste like crap no matter what you put on them. Cow poop tastes better. Voice of experiance
