
Anyone can go camping once in a while and say they “love the outdoors,” but to truly claim yourself as an outdoorsman, you need to possess a very particular set of skills. While these skills are incredibly rare in our society today, just a few generations ago you would have been hard-pressed to find a single person who didn't possess them.
These are the skills of outdoor survival. Before the invention of such modern conveniences as electricity and a ton of camping equipment nobody needs, people relied on their own abilities and being able to make sticky situations work to their advantage. They had to or they would die, along with whatever families they were supporting.

The Article gives extremely basic pointers, and reads more like a list of things to learn more than valuable information to memorize.
