10 SHTF Vehicles That Will Never Let a Survivalist Down When Doomsday is Here

off road vehicle

Most survivalists believe they have prepared for just about everything when it comes to SHTF, but the reality is there is always more you can do than stockpiling food, building the latest weapons, and having the best bug out bag.

Planning and stockpiling is important, but so is making sure you have a solid travel plan in place when Doomsday arrives. Know where to meet loved ones, where you'll travel to and what vehicle you'll be driving is just as important.

Even if you don't have a bug out location set up, a rugged vehicle should be on your SHTF master plan. After all, when the police have abandoned their post and the grocery stores have been wiped clean, it'll be up to you to keep the criminals away.

A vehicle you can depend on during Doomsday should not only keep you safe, but it should also be fuel efficient. A modern vehicle unfortunately just won't work as a bug out vehicle.

To make it through Doomsday in one piece, it's up to you to select a bug out vehicle you can count on. When you must get out of dodge, do so in a vehicle that'll keep you safe and sound. Check out 10 vehicles you can count on after the break.

When shtf and all roadways are blocked with crazy confused folks, it won’t matter what your driving if it can’t move on down the road :/

EMP will knock them out………….. The best vehicle is below……..

“Never” is a mighty big word when talking about reliability and not breaking down.

Its not just for bug outs some people have land and are already where they want to be. Its about having a reliable vehicle to live day to day life after shtf

Also emergency food! Lol jk but you know kind of not. Depends how desperate you are

I have a older tube chassis 4×4. Kind of like a dune buggy with no body just frame, foam filled tires and I converted it to EV so I’m good

What’s more important than reliability is repairability. Something will go wrong at some point and if parts are scarce you will run into a bigger issue. Go with mass produced domestic work and utility vehicles.

Don’t you need one that can take diesel or kerosene or anything but gas? Since a few years after$#%&!@*gas goes bad?

  9. Timmy Crouch said:

Any old diesel or old small block Chevy built before the mid-early 80’s is easily repairable and somewhat resistant to emp attacks. Those old diesels will run off used motor oil.

  10. Wesley Johnson said:

Pre-’80’s vehicles are fuel hogs, you’ll need a f’n refinery to fuel the things!

Don’t matter the vehicle, in my opinion lets say your car/truck is emo proof and has never had any real mechanical problems….well guess what folks gas stations now days are not emo proof so unless you got a old crank pump or hose you can suck gas with your car/ truck is useless once you run out of gas/diesel

“When it’s time to get out of Dodge” do so on a Dodge. Specifically a cummins turbo diesel.

  13. Jesse Wymer said:

Honestly the duce and a half would be the best in that case. Run off damn near anything combustible

2000-2006 tahoe, yukon, suburban. Or old square body suburban with the 6.5 diesel

I’ve been told the newer helix are just as good but not sold in the states

    A school bus.

Gut it, put in beds, supplies, sand bags, etc. And every town has them for parts.

  17. Nate Rensland said:

Actually the 6×6 multi fuel will run off motor oil, gas, diesel, an many other things.

  18. Chris Marlow said:

So it does, what im trying to say is that those fuel sources would eventually dry up.

  19. Matthew Johnson said:

If it hit you wont be able to drive out of any citiy or town, roads will be blocked by panicing people. Everyone will try and leave at the same time.

  20. Nathaniel Reynolds said:

Duece and a half. Easy to repair, diesel so you can use biodiesel, and it has good ground clearance.

  21. Christopher Fred Tafel said:

Vehicles will be pretty useless once doomsday is here so these topics I find pretty irrelevant. Gas does not have a very long shelf life

  22. Adam Roach said:

Why is this? I’m not mechanically inclined so I’m curious.if always thought jeeps were tough

  23. Jason Fetters said:

I actually keep a Ziploc bag under the seat with a new TPS, CPS, coil and a few other parts.

  24. Zach Boutot said:

All fuel sources will. Unless you start refining crude all the fuels will have today will go bad within a year or two. Gasoline especially, most gas has a shelf life of under 6 months. The only fuels that have any chance of long terms use are diesel, propane, and stored kerosene.

  25. Zach Boutot said:

Gas dosent but diesel, kerosene, and propane do. Youve gotta think outside the box, gasoline is a shitty fuel as it is.

  26. Zach Boutot said:

    That’s a horrible choice.
    >1.) Very old with parts hard to impossible to find
    >2.) Gas engine. You wont go anywhere after a few months because all the gas will be water logged
    >3.) Conspicuous, you’re going to look like the Beverly hills billies with any gear in a little willies

  27. Zach Boutot said:

The best car for an EMP is a model T. Gas motor but can run on almost any flammable fuel, even alcohol with enough tuning, and literally everything with the exception of the leather top end bearings can br replaced or mended on the side of the road without ang electricity
