(Video) This Couple’s Very First Experience Butchering Chickens is Interesting, to Say the Least…

butchering chickens

Back in the day, when we lived with Mom and Dad on our somewhat rural home, we did have chickens. Sadly, we eventually sent them away to be butchered when Dad realized they simply were not producing enough to make them worth the cash he was putting into them.

However, I do remember our teenage brother telling us he was involved with the butchering process. He never really talked much about it. It may have even traumatized him since he was so young. But I did get a sense that it was something new he learned and might take with him in later years.

Our brother is currently a survivalist, can camp and live off the land with the best of them. He and his sons go out often. And he knows how to handle a rifle with perfection. While we would not exactly call him a prepper we know the skills he learned, including butchering chickens, is something that will come in handy when the SHTF!

After the break check out a homesteader that is faced with her first butchering opportunity.

Given two live chickens, she is ready and willing to do what is necessary to provide food for her family. Her story is both real-life and humorous. Let’s face it, there is a first time for everyone and everything!

Man my childhood consisted of butchering so damn many chickens. I love this video. Outside perspective on it and brought back many memories

Yeah…to have chickens and eggs. I’m not a feminist…I’m ok with saying I’m not doing that, you’re the man you do it. LOL!
