How to Successfully Clean a Mattress – All it Takes is One Item!

bed bugs on a mattress

When you get caught up with the chores and are preparing for SHTF, sometimes it's easy to forget about the little things, such as how to clean a mattress. Luckily you can get that mattress clean and ready to go! Don't waste any more time sleeping on a dirty mattress.

It is best to vacuum every time you rotate your mattress, or once a season. The key: “use a clean upholstery attachment” since the vacuum has, well, a dirty job.

Deodorize the mattress by sifting baking soda over it, let it sit for 30 minutes and then vacuum it up with the clean upholstery attachment.

If you need to tackle stains, the main three are protein, grease and tannin, with protein being the ones you see on the mattress. Maker says it’s best to blot liquid stains, using a pressing motion.

Simple enough, right? And definitely worth making the time to clean. After all, we spend more time on that piece of furniture than any other in our home. We should prioritize accordingly! To learn more about the best ways to clean your mattress, check out Tips for the Home!

Yeah, but if I hadn’t clicked on it I wouldn’t have gotten that mental image of “protein” stains in my head…
