How to Make a Two-Pronged Hunting Spear That’s Ideal for That Pivotal SHTF Moment

two-pronged-spear

This two prong spear is easy to make, very effective and with practice, can kill small mammals, fish or birds – all sources of vital protein in a survival situation.

In a survival situation, it could be an invaluable tool that allows you to eat or protect yourself without drawing too much attention.

Shave the larger end of the stick down to a chisel shape and then split the end with your knife.

Tie a piece of cord as tight as you possibly can around and around the stick directly below the split to prevent it from splitting further.

Horizontally jam the small twig into the slit to keep the two sides from coming back together. Them sharpen the two points.

Tie more cord as tightly as you can on both sides of the twig.

This type of spear could be used for fishing, throwing, fending off an attacker and killing small game (which in a survival situation might be very necessary).

One suggestion: Make and fit several points before using the spear. Inevitably, tips break, especially if you use it for hunting small game. Having one by the ready for replacing a broken spear saves you time and could make the difference between eating meat for dinner and not!
