Many survivalists and people alike fear spiders for a reason. It likely has to do with their long legs, eyes, and not to mention the details webs they construct with ease to catch their prey.

If you were to ask a prepper why he doesn't like spiders, most survivalists would let you know it's because they don't want to get bit! Even though most spiders won't harm you — the bite from a spider itches like a mosquito bite — there are still the occasional spiders that can cause you a lot of injuries.

Keep in mind for every spider that won't cause you harm; there are still quite a few that will cause a lot of discomfort. You may have heard of the brown recluse spider, which is one such spider that can make even the courageous of survivalists squirm when they hear this spider's name.

Why? If a survivalist got bit by a recluse spider, they would need medical attention. However, if you're a prepper who bugs out a lot, and you're living off the grid that may not be possible. What are you supposed to do at that point if there's no emergency care available?

I think I was bit last night. I can’t read the article. I woke up this morning with my pinky itchy but also a stinging feeling. I don’t want to lose my pinky. Help! What do I do. I also know we have a lot of brown recluse spiders in my home. Do I go to the er? Will they do anything since it has gotten bad? It also look like a little blister.

There isn’t anything you can do about a brown recluse bite except cut off a body part before the protein reaches a major organ. That’s fact. All spiders are poisonous and every one reacts differently to the protein. 99.9% of the time, it’s a bite from a garden spider that leaves an open wound.

If plantain works for snake bites, I think it should work for these too

I have had 5 brown recluse bites, usually on the stomach or hand. Living in SW MO near moist areas they are more common than ants. I have used alcohol on ever one of the bites and not a single one has grown beyond the size of half a pea. Idk if that is due to the quick application of alcohol, or if everyone simply reacts differently to the bites. I watched the last on bite me on my bare stomach in bed as I smacked it (not the best idea). You could see the 2 needle looking holes where the bite was, and a little redness showed up the next couple days but the hole never grew. Maybe I’m getting immune;) ha

I would bet a paste made with Benadryl Crushed and baking soda and antibiotic cream would be the ticket or colloidal silver.

I was bitten once when I was three years old back in Ireland. It was a very unpleasant experience. And because of it I have hearing loss in my left ear. A couple of years ago I was bit again find my left ear. I attempted to care for the wound myself, having Basic medical training, and I ended up getting MRSA. Obviously I did not keep it clean enough. The dry compounds do work, also certain antibiotics can help. Cleaning around the wound with Hibiclens is also a great idea.

I doubt that’s truly a brown recluse bite. Usually by day 4 there is a necrotic center surrounded by erythema as it kills the tissue in a downward cone pattern which eventually ulcerates leading to Infection. Treatment commonly requires IV ABX and sometimes surgical debridement for the damaged tissue, worse case scenarios have required skin grafts.

I was bitten in the shin back in the late 80s they end up taking part of my shin now I’m replacing it with a muscle from my back

The part that helped my bite was burning it with boiling hot water it seems crazy but I figured it was a biological venomous infection like jelly fish or something. I burned it out before it went in to the blood I’m guessing it feeds off lower layer fatty tissue.

Much faster method, bit unnerving, but zap the bite with a stungun. Yes it works on snake bites too.

A ton of different answers and stories. Got bit back of my leg crease of the knee while sleeping. Itched it next day it bubbled up and necrotized thought that was it . Waited 3 days to do anything finally went to the E.R. when I saw venom line traveling half way up femural artery. Doc said take these giant horse pil sized antibiotics immediately. Don’t wait. The venom line disappeared ,the swelling and site healed fine. That’s all
