You Can Sharpen Your Knife to its Sharpest Possible Edge Using THIS Secret Technique…

sharpening a knife

It's true what they say that a knife is only as good as the edge it holds. A sharp edge is a safe edge and it is less likely to slip. It also requires a lot less force to slice through whatever you're cutting.

Don't be deceived, however, because not every knife is the same. Some require a steeper cutting angle while other need a narrow blade so that it'll make fine slices.

Different methods of sharpening a knife will lead to different results and there are also different sharpening tools available for purchase that can often lead to a quick and smooth, polished edge.

Knowing the difference between a sharpened knife and a knife that won't get the job done makes sharpening your blades an easier prospect and it all depends on what the most reliable tools are.

Check out some secrets behind how to get the sharpest blade and improve your existing knives after the break.

Why do we have to click through to another page to read your articles? What are you hiding? What are you looking for when we have to click AGAIN? I’m sure I’m not the only one considering these questions.

Sharp is a matter of circumstance. A very finely sharpened blade will cut anything but dull quickly. A more bluntly sharpened blade will cut less effectively but stay sharper longer.

I am sorry, but I’d rather had a gun, but as you know this isn’t so easy in Europe. Ok you can have air gun 😀 😀

Hey Joshua, damn that’s sharp. I’ve seen videos before if people making a knife like that. Impressive.

We have a saying, “Only a fool brings a gun to an Arkansas knife fight”. A good blade, a sharp blade can be more dangerous than any gun in the hands of a wise man.

Ziggy Wooten knife is not a gun. On long distance gun is better, especially now when hordes of muslims are looting in Europe.

A wise man knows as long as he survives, his enemies know they are in danger. Can a gun cauterize a wound, gut a fish, cut saplings for booby traps, open a can of food, quietly kill an enemy, slash a tire or help you search for IES’a? Nope. guns are great and I know how important they are, don’t get me wrong but a good sharp knife has a wider range of uses.

You can some of those things with a bayonet attached. So, it’s a 2 in 1. You can also cauterize a wound with a hot gun barrel.

Ziggy Wooten has a point a blade almost impossible to malfunction or fail but vs. A gun fighter (someone who trains to fight and survive with his gun) little to no hope for sir Lancelot with serrated steel

My uncle took the time to teach me how to sharpen knives when I was a young boy. Maybe he thought if I was willing to put in the time to learn he take the time needed to teach me.
Or he could have just got tired of always sharping my knife for me and decided I was going to learn how. lol
Whatever the reason, I know how to sharpen knives, Axe’s and tools. Thank you uncle!

I agree that diamond stones are the best all around stone. I use EX-LAP diamond stones that are made in the USA in Carson City , Nevada.
Instead of using an Arkansas stone to polish the edge , I use a leather strop with a little polishing compound . Leather strops are less expensive than a good Arkansas stone , last as long as an Arkansas stone and they will leave you with a razor like edge.
Also…if you strop your shaving razors , even disposable razors will last an incredibly long time.
Try stropping your razor on a pair of blue jeans , about 15-20 strokes before you shave and see for yourself… If happy with the results then buy a leather strop for 10-20 bucks and you’re set with an even better strop.

It’s all in the steel.. I made one out of a steel file. Iv hacked branches apart, done multiple paper tests, cut cardboard boxes up, cut carpet, gutted and skinned a deer and have yet to hone the blade since the first time and it will still shave all the hair off your arm in one pass

What is sharpness??? Well unless you have a advanced understaning of knives its very diffent from one edge to another. Any metal can be sharpened, but to keep that edge it must be harden steel. On top of that there is a huge selection of metals to make knives out of, each one has a different characteristics and edge holding ability. BUT, only when heat treated properly, and tempered proplerly. If you want sharp you need to know what metal, heat treat procees, angle of edge, AND mostly use of knife fisrt. After that you can begin to talk sharpning. Until you know the for mentioned stuff sharping is waste of time. Cause on a crap blade you time sharping can be totally wasted in one cut.
