Fire is one of the most important elements you must secure if you are confronted with a survival situation.
While not technically part of the “principles of three,” fire makes your life a lot easier, provides both warmth and security and is good for your morale.
Most of us know to always have several different methods of fire-starting with us whenever we venture into the wilderness, and we have the same in our bug-out bags and survival kits.
But a reliable fire-starter is all but useless if you cannot ignite tinder to get a larger fire started.
Luckily, there is an easy answer to the tinder question.
Using cotton balls and Vaseline, you have an assured method of igniting a fire that will last much longer than traditional tinder you find from your immediate surroundings.
In most cases, it will last long enough to light dry or even slightly damp tinder.

Thanks lol I use this one all the time. I like dryer lint.
Water!
This works well. I keep a poll bottle full in my pack.
Use it to light my forge.
Also, if you have Cattail’s in your area, the white fiber inside of them makes great tinder.
