[VIDEO] Winter Bush Craft – Surviving in Freezing Conditions

Virtually each year in the United States' New Hampshire's White Mountains, several people “go missing” during the winter season, usually because the harsh weather surprises people and they are unprepared.

In most cases, those lost or stranded are able to endure and be rescued, but once in a while, the worst happens.

This reality happens in virtually any place that is easily accessible to hikers, campers, hunters and fishers.

While most are prepared for a relatively short stint in the wilderness, few are ever prepared for the worst, which in the Winter, is just about every survival situation.

Being able to build a durable shelter and fire to last a night (or several if the weather is bad enough) is a critical skill every survivalist must learn.

I learned this as a kid playing in the woods. And yes Clay, a crappy shelter.

I do like this site though. Not everyone grew up with woods and a family who primitive camped.

Most of the stuff is just common sense. Are people really so stupid they would sleep directly on freezing ground?

I grew up and live in a place where it never snows, trust me common sense isn’t a given when it comes to environments you have no experience in. Plenty of people with no experience in the desert that underestimate the heat and sun, for example.

What the hell kind of shelter is that, that would be gone in any type of breeze, and there would be snow on the inside
