Why You Must Have a Better Survival Garden and What to Plant

If you are growing a survival garden, the chances you are growing your favorite foods is high. Your favorite foods, however, might not be the best foods for a survival situation.

Not growing the best survival foods that are perishable is not the greatest of ideas if a survival situation lasts for longer than a few days. In the case it lasts weeks or even months, many of your favorite foods will pass their optimum growing season and become unreliable.

For example, many vegetables have longer maturation periods, but relatively short periods of harvest for most of the country; tomatoes, cucumbers, and corn are examples of this, particularly if you live above the Mason-Dixon Line.

Any survival garden should have food you like the best, but it should also have other vegetables that not only have a longer harvest period but store well over the duration.
