Aromas are a tricky thing.

Good smelling stuff can calm, energize and excite us.

Awful smelling stuff can produce results that range from smirks to gagging all the way up to nausea and even passing out.

In a survival crisis, most of us will experience a lot of the latter and not a whole lot of the former.

Worse, we likely will not have to be right on top of something to smell it – in some cases, we might even be miles away.

That should inform us, though.

If you can smell something chances are someone near that smell might be able to smell you!

In a survival crisis, that can create a lot of potential problems, not the least is that the person who smells you might be desperate or a criminal and may want to do you harm!

I thought this was smells to avoid, not smells to avoid making. Stupid and misleading.

Kind of in between cut grass and dry hay, slightly sweetish. Hard to describe if you haven’t smelled it. Makes you a bit paranoid if you suddenly smell it at a mall , or elsewhere if you’ve had to work with Phosgene pellets. Some woman had some damp haybales in her truck one day in town…gave me the willies before i figured out where the smell was from.
