Being prepared for a survival situation is more than just running to the store and buying a bunch of food and survival gear and then shoving it in a closet until you need it.
The essence of preparation is getting what you need and storing it in a manner that you can use it when you need it.
That means mastering intangibles, such as being organized, understanding what you need, using common sense, rationally anticipating a potential survival situation and understanding what you do not need to spend time worrying about.
You also have to have an array of tangibles, such as knowing how to dress a broken limb or start a fire or repair your home and shelter after a storm – situations that requires specific knowledge and skills.
