One key to making it through a survival situation is being able to provide yourself with heat.

The benefit is not only physically, potentially life saving, but the mental boost being warm provides most people is invaluable.

Plus, with an adequate heat source, you can cook food, boil water and warm your surroundings adequately enough to make it through even the most bitter cold!

But most people only prepare for one type of survival heat source – the campfire.

That works great for a night or two, but if your situation is longer term, having a more permanent and reliable type of heat source is not only more efficient, it makes stuff like cooking much easier to accomplish.

That is why you should consider having some sort of more permanent way of burning wood  either already to assemble as part of a survival kit, at your survival shelter or be able to make one from materials you find.
