Why Knowing How to Use a Signal Mirror Can be the Key to Your Survival

Signal mirrors

A reflective object in the wilderness is a rare thing, and anyone seeing a bright reflection will almost certainly assume it is a person trying to communicate. Learning the skills behind improvising an effective signal is an important lesson to learn.

Watch the video below to learn how to add this invaluable skill to your arsenal of survival knowledge.

As mentioned in the video, a mirror with a sighting hole is the most efficient method of signaling, as anything seen through the hole is certain to receive the full brunt of the reflection.

We also love the idea of using a Zippo lighter as a signal mirror, as the surfaces are highly reflective, and you can also use the ability to create a flame to make a signal fire when it is dark, or there is not enough light for a reflection.

Um. You should count how many times “um” was said in this video. I’m not hating, there was good info. But I stopped watching as all the um’s drove me nuts and made the presenter appear unprepared.
