Why a Second American Civil War May Be Inevitable

people rioting

Is the USA headed towards a new “civil war?” Are we there already?

That depends on your definition of “war.” If a war means two political jabbering heads hurling pejoratives at each other on TV, then yes, we are at war.

If political battles waged at the ballot box, where each election is “the most important ever” is war, then we probably are at war.

If war is a cultural struggle, then we have been in a Civil War for decades. But none of that includes the cruelty and carnage of the original US Civil War.

So are we in a new type of Civil War?

Or is it an over-used phrase employed by those with no perspective of the horrors of Shiloh, Antietam or Gettysburg?

Is it an epic battle for right or left supremacy, or an indicator of a lack of a sense of history or self-awareness?

We debate that on the next page; check it out!

Yeah let’s show the world we can’t get along with each other and as both sides take up arms and lib dem snowflakes what ever you call them. Will take up arms as well if you think they will lay down and die instead of rising up and fighting with guns for what they believe you are so wrong. Well why we fight our civil war you know what could happen? We would end up trying to fight off all those countries trying to take over the United states by claiming they are just trying to keep the peace. Than poof were no longer the United states America we are seperate territory of some forign powers. Congratulations you would destroy the one thing that makes us great. Democracy.

The sooner the better. In 30 years when demographics have shifted and the 3rd world populations that will replace the founding populations are the majority and can vote away our gun rights, we will be in a much weaker position.

I think we are going to see, out of necessity, a new nation arise within the borders of the United States. I think it is going to happen sooner than we think, and along the lines of how Gandhi freed India.

That is not accurate never under estimate an opponent. Assume they are dangerous and handle them accordingly. Liberals don’t obey rules or laws they are actually anarchist with an opportunist ideology towards taking advantage of the righteous when they are down.

War is inevitable. We have fought for everything we have. Without all the patriots who went before we would be still speaking the Kings English. That’s a simplistic way of saying it, but true none the less.

    Gun Control

I had hoped to avoid spewing some of my right wing views, but I was recently dragged into a debate on gun control.

    My Thoughts on Gun Control

There is one pertinent question, when viewed from the perspective of our country’s founders, which sets the stage for the opposing views on gun control. It is a question that is uncomfortable to consider.

The question is this. Is it possible, even remotely possible, in the distant future, say 50 to 100 years from now, that we might elect a President who is determined to change the United States into an authoritarian society which is tightly controlled by a dictator or by an oligarchic group?

If your answer is no; it is not even remotely possible that such a thing can happen, then you have a legitimate argument for gun control.

If your answer is yes; it could happen, but the likelihood is very remote, then you have a legitimate argument for universal gun ownership for lawful citizens and virtually no gun control at all.

What do I mean by this?

When we were a colonial outpost under the control of the British King people armed themselves with the most modern weapons available at the time, and many towns created loosely organized militias for protection against brigands, natives and wildlife. In addition, they needed weapons to secure meat. We did not have an organized agricultural industry at that time and many food stocks were harvested from the forests.

Dissatisfied groups of colonists who were unhappy being ruled and controlled by the British monarchy and their appointed representatives began to make trouble, and the appointed governors realized that an uprising was possible. The ruling representatives of the King thought it was a bad idea that colonists had modern weapons which were equal to those being used by their armed forces so they decided to disarm the American people.

They sent an army unit from Boston to march to the villages of Lexington and Concord to confiscate all of the weapons from the citizens. As we learned in grade school a warning was sent to the people of Lexington and Concord to warn them that the “British were coming”. The Concord militia armed with their modern, military grade weapons formed at one of the Concord bridges and fired on the British soldiers and our war for independence began.

After a few failed experiments in self-government (Articles of Confederation) our forefathers decided to write a new document to create a framework for a workable government and a system of laws. This new document would be the governing instrument against which all laws and actions taken by government would be measured.

It would be designed to limit the power of government and maximize individual liberty.

This “limiting” was done because our forefathers understood that human nature is primarily guided by pride and by prejudice. They knew that a character flaw in virtually all humans is the desire to exercise power over and control the actions of others. This flaw has been demonstrated over and over again since the beginning of recorded history, and they were very concerned that groups of people would form to oppress other groups of people who did not agree with their point of view. The political philosophers of the time referred to this oppression as “factioning”.

They gathered to write what we now know as our Constitution, and the final product was, in fact, designed to limit the ability of our government to consolidate power and interfere in the daily lives of citizens. It was a document that provided “checks and balances” on the accumulation of power so that one branch of the government could not overwhelm the others. It also provided mechanisms to prevent all three branches of government from banding together to run roughshod over the citizenry.

I don’t want to focus on the “separation of powers”, a limiting factor, in this article. I want to focus on an amendment, the second amendment. It says: “A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a Free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.”

It was not written to protect your right to shoot deer, a pejorative statement we have heard repeated a lot lately.

Our founders were emotionally not very far away from the events at Lexington and Concord when they met to draft the Constitution, and they were keenly aware, that despite their best efforts to prevent it in our Constitution , it would still be possible for a tyrant to rise to power. The second amendment was designed to keep modern weapons in the hands of citizens and to encourage the formation of militias.

Some of the state legislatures even codified concepts like the “right to revolution” in their state constitutions. Article 10 in the Bill of Rights in the New Hampshire Constitution says: “[Art.] 10. [Right of Revolution.] Government being instituted for the common benefit, protection, and security, of the whole community, and not for the private interest or emolument of any one man, family, or class of men; therefore, whenever the ends of government are perverted, and public liberty manifestly endangered, and all other means of redress are ineffectual, the people may, and of right ought to reform the old, or establish a new government. The doctrine of nonresistance against arbitrary power, and oppression, is absurd, slavish, and destructive of the good and happiness of mankind.”

The last sentence, which I have highlighted, is fairly consistent with the thinking that led our founders to write the second amendment to the U.S. Constitution.

A population armed with modern weapons and organized into militias would provide the final “check and balance” against an out of control government which ignores the Constitution and is bent on tyranny. The idea that there might be a “gun behind every blade of grass” would weigh heavy on the mind of a despot determined to trample on the “natural rights” of citizens.

Whenever there is a horrendous tragedy that makes us want to cling tightly to our children and grandchildren, and a clarion call begins for eliminating guns or certain kinds of guns, remember these things.

Gun control laws have proven to be ineffective. A recent survey of some 18,000 prison inmates shows that less than 1% of them acquired their guns through gun shows or other semi-legitimate sources, most bought them from other criminals, and societies that have eliminated gun ownership have been plagued with mass killings just like we have.

There have been evildoers since the dawn of history, and some of them have killed, not just dozens or hundreds, but millions of people. The histories of their rule have been written with the blood of their citizens.

Armies exist for one of two reasons; either to do evil or to stop evil. The leaders of every country on this planet know that the only way to stop evil is to meet it with greater force.

It is a sad, sad reality that if an evil person is focused on killing others, the only thing that can stop him is a decent, determined, armed citizen who is willing to sacrifice his or her life to protect the innocent.

Anyone that hopes for a civil war is an idiot. And if you’re willing to go around killing your neighbors then you’re monster on top of being an idiot.

You think you have the moral high ground? Well, that still won’t keep a lot of people from getting killed and mass destruction all over the country. Be careful what you wish for – you just might get it.
