Weapons Are Essential When SHTF, Which Is Why Constructing A Crossbow Is In Your Best Interest. Eliminate Threats and Provide For Yourself By Hunting For Food!
You have your bunker, you have your survival rations, you have your…. darn, you left your gun on the kitchen counter when you were grabbing your cell phone charger. You can't go back now because riots are breaking out in the streets and traffic has fallen to a standstill. What are you going to do for a weapon?
Sure you have your knife, and you could sharpen a stick into a spear for close-quarter combat, but what about hunting? Plus, you'll preferably want to remove threats before they get close enough for a knife. In 1139, crossbows were thought of in the same way that “assault rifles” are thought of today. They were essentially doomsday devices and were believed to be so dangerous that Pope Innocent III may have forbidden their use in warfare.
For that reason alone, don't you kind of want one? Plus, if it's good enough for Daryl Dixon, it's good enough for you.

New facebook rule: Unless it is a reference to Walking Dead, anyone posting crossbows is unfollowed.

But I already own a crossbow…
… but are there any good ways to make your own cross-bow bolts?
i use dowel rods available from walmart home depot hobby lobby etc…theres a youtube video by dave canterbury called poormans arrowmaking i believe
whats up with all the separate pieces? would be much better from a single piece of lumber and it needs a fiberglass rod in the center of the pipe or the pvc will lose some strentgh over time.
the fletch is made from duct tape
and you can make broadheads from flattened spoons or just buy the glue on ones
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HKnhvFuVBLQ Mine is homemade too!
Ive made bows out of the little orange fiberglass driveway markers With 3 of them bundled I get 41lbs pull with a regular arrow and takes up less space than a crossbow.

Wonder what the arrow speed is
Hmm was interested in learning but then it said click on to the next page and figures I’ll just go check YouTube.
LOL. Sure you can build one with a lot of work, and power tools. Buy one ahead of time, because you are not going to have the time to make one of these in survival mode. For long term survival a bow is going to be required, so learn how to make arrows/bolts, which is better use of your time, when you have it.

I think the bow is more useful than a crossbow. Crossbows wear out stings faster and require a lot more maintenance and take to long to load. They are easier to shoot accurately but with practice you can be just as accurate with a bow.

Check out ZNA productions on youtube he builds bows and crossbows from pvc pipe and road flag posts with basic tools. Real cool.

It occurs to me that a compound bow release aid would make a good trigger for a crossbow. The stock and bow aren’t that hard but a nut and trigger might be a bit of a problem. Use the wrist strap to hold the release aid to the stock.

They are also way more dangerous, an injury to the hand when you’re trying to survive is bad juju.
