Moutain lions, aka cougars, are one of the most feared predators in the US, and even though this fear mainly comes from misunderstanding this cat, they are definitely intimidating enough to warrant a lot of respect.
Thankfully the chance of a prepper coming across a cougar while bugging out, camping, hiking, or spending time in the wilderness is slim to none since they are reclusive by nature. It's also very rare that they would attack a human, but it's always better to be safe than sorry.
Even though attacks are rare, they can happen. Being attacked by a mountain lion could have been prevented by knowing a few key pointers before coming across one of these predators. There are a few things you should never do when encountering a wild animal like this one in the wild that you'll soon learn after the break.

Billy Paul and I sat right here on the back porch, we watched a mountain lion come out of the woods to our left, it walked very slowly all around the perimeter of the woods, till it got to the right of us. We kept our eyes on it. My first thought was to run in the house, my husband told me….Don`t Move When it got to the right of us, it stopped and stared at us, to let us know…he knew we were there. Then slowly, it went back into the woods….this has been a few years back, and we have never seen it again…I don`t want to see it again!!
