What Does the New President Mean for Off Grid Living?

donald-trump

Some people predict that a Trump presidency could make it easier for those who want to live a more independent lifestyle. The following is part of a report from Off-Grid's Kitty Brown:

In 2014, an estimated 1 million people live off grid in America, a figure that has steadily risen in the past few decades. Across the UK, there are already thousands of people who have embraced the off-grid movement. There is a certain appeal to this way of life, to be self sufficient and liberated from the chains of a capitalist consumer society, by embracing this low cost, eco-friendly way of life.
Generally speaking, much of Trump’s support comes from disenfranchised elements who feel nobody was speaking for them.
Does Trump’s America mean that people will embrace this way of living? Certain states ban homes smaller than a few hundred square feet, and some cities welcome these so-called ‘tiny homes’. Trump has spoken about the costliness of renewable solar and wind power; however there is evidence to show that renewable energy in the US is cheaper than it has ever been.

It hasn't been a full two months since Trump was sworn in, but many of his supporters are still hopeful. If all goes well those who desire to live off grid will be able to do so more easily and for those who are currently living off grid, perhaps that means they will have less restrictions. Why would anyone think that? He never did a damn thing for Average Joe or Jane in his life. His businesses cater to the wealthy and he rants like an insane dictator when he doesn’t get his way. Prepare for the worst! Cancelling International Treaties, working to close our borders like North Korea did, Tweeting childish crap about other World Leaders… We’re closer to WWIII than we ever have been.

The 34,000 people that the Trump family employs would probably disagree with you about him never helping the average Joe or Jane. Funny, I’ve NEVER been hired for a job by a poor man.

OK, you just went grotesque. I can’t hold a conversation with you. Bye.

Harley, I don’t know what kind of jobs you’ve had in the past, but if you equate working to earn a living with sucking dicks, maybe you’re the one doing it wrong.

The downsizing of the government is always good for the average person ,especially if you want to live off the land. Less redundant BS regulations, permits ect.

Maybe you’re confusing the businessman with the socialist Democrats that lost the election.

I love your page die hard survivor I learned a lot of great stuff. Trump Just because he wants to make sure American people are safe, and keep bad people out, is that why you want to call him dictator? And at least he does not support criminals like BLM and michael browns. I am immigrant who come here legally, last 8 years under obama administration, all I seen him doing was making North Korea, Cuba, Iran and other countries that hates us making them Stronger while telling our closest allies F-U. Obama made mess in Syria, he pullout our troops from Iraq and make ISIS stronger. I can go on and on, but I know one thing Trump won’t do, he will never call our constitution outdated and try to change it.

Cancelling international trade deals like the TTP is a good thing for Joe and Jane.

International trade deals are summed up thusly

    I take:
The product I want from a slave sourced location.

    Then I take it to:
A lower income section of what is in theory a first world country, but all the people I brought in to drive wages down means in terms of acceptability its really 2nd or 2.5.

    I then:
Sell my cut rate, slave sourced product to first world markets, at pruces as though the entire process had spared no expense.

And to further maximise my personal profits, I:
Place my corporate offices in whichever country gives me the best tax writeoffs, regardless of where I actually am from or live.

    And finally:
I spread my money across the globe, funneling it through every step of this process to lose the absolute minimum of it to anything such as taxes, employee benefits, materials, labor or logistics costs, and bank it with whoever will give me the best return on it while keeping it out of the hands of the national governments I explouted through these open ended deals.

Oh…. Doug, Doug, Doug. One- How in the hell do you know whether Trump “did a damn thing” for the average Joe or Jame? And Two- any way you slice it, Trump was an average citizen just like everyone else, albeit a rich one. He didn’t HAVE to do anything for anyone. Do you believe he was required to give some of his fortune to you? Just because you’re such an awesome guy? Get over yourself. Are we closer to WWIII? Sure but not because of Trump. You have your god- Barack Obama to thank for that.

If you are not living off of the land, you are selling yourself one way or another. If you dont think a day laborer is selling his body and being degraded just as much as prostitute you have never done real work. The so called job creators are just parasites. A workers collective can run a company without some fat cat siphoning most of the profit without doing any real work.
