The Atlantic Wall during World War II was used as a means of coastal defense along the coast of France, Belgium, the Netherlands, Denmark, and all the way up to the coast of Norway. It was built by Nazi Germany as a means to defend against an invasion from the Allied forces, and it was equipped with heavy artillery batteries, coastal guns and other various means of defense. Its bunkers were able to hold the thousands of men under the surface.
The multi-level bunkers for soldiers were equipped with a ventilation room and engine room for power. Most of the Atlantic Wall could not be seen above ground. Its bunkers were only accessible at entry points that led down long stairways.

I’m a military brat, I remember the bunkers in germany and actually playing in them…engineers tried to blow them up and tear them down, no luck, they just buried them under tons of dirt

I dont know where they were looking, but I can tell you, that in Norway there are so many of them they have stopped counting them, the whole coast are full of them, they usually try to hide them, they are not exactly what you call an eye candy.
