This is the kind of thing, as a survivalist, you look at and think – “Yeah, I’d really like to have one of those.” It’s your place, in the middle of nowhere, and it’s entirely up to you to keep warm and fed. It might get lonely but, with scenery like this it might be worth it!
Just think, move a nice wood stove into the place, build an outhouse and you have a winter retreat! Yes, you would be roughing it. No easy winter here. But you would also have the self-satisfaction of knowing the place is all yours, to share with the squirrels and lynx, and if you bring a bug-out bag filled with provisions you could relax and hide out indefinitely!
Indefinitely? Yes, the spouse and kids may think differently but with negotiation anything is possible!

Yea, buy enough land and have at it. Windmill and solar with a wood stove. Keep your mouth shut and you’re probably safe.
Here in Texas you can build whatever and however you want on your own rural land without any permit. The only thing required to be permitted and inspected is if you’re installing a septic system. Even that can be bypassed if you do a midnight installation!
Andrew Hyatt absolutely! Guys get away! Man Hut!
