That really depends on whether you want to make it through a survival situation or not.

Like it or not, manmade survival situations are actually pretty rare

There are, however, dozens of other types of survival situations that could arise that have zero bearing on who is in political office.

Tornadoes, hurricanes, earthquakes, flooding – those are just a few of the possible survival situations facing all of us.

Given that, a person would be a fool to decide they did not need to be prepared, particularly because of some dopey politician.
