We can't always take all of our favorite tools, weapons and other gear with us when we go hunting or camping, and should a SHTF situation arise, we may not even have access to all of these things. That's why it's helpful to have a single knife that you can know you can rely on for several different purposes.

The following video shows you how to do just that, and we have to say, there are a few things we hadn't thought of when it comes to choosing a survival and hunting knife!

The video starts off by listing the top five things to avoid when choosing a survival or hunting knife. For example, a folding knife sounds like a great idea, because it's so convenient and easy to tuck in your pocket or kit, especially if you're short on space.

However, the fact that it folds gives it a weak point, which is something you don't want when that's your one and only knife and you're relying on it to do everything.

I totally agree with the choice of Cold Steel SRK and Master Hunter. If you can find one made with the old Carbon V steel you will have the best edge holding ability and strength of almost any commercial knife made. Some of the abuse I’ve put mine through would amaze. I’ve used Schrade, Buck, Puma etc. and I settled on Cold steel in 1996,
