The Swedish Fire Torch is one of the easiest ways to build a reliable, long-lasting and extremely useful fire source and stove.

Built correctly, a Swedish Fire Torch will last for hours, provide a ton of heat and is easy to maintain, but you must build it correctly or you will only be setting a log on fire.

You have to take the time to split the log you want to use, hollow it out a bit, secure the base and use tinder and kindling to split the quarters.

If you do not, it will not catch fire as easily, not burn evenly and you will end up with an unstable burning log – not good for cooking, erratic in providing heat and a threat to spread fire beyond where you want to contain it.
