Making creative use of the resources at your disposal is one of the key components of surviving post-SHTF.
Also on that list is the ability to make use of new skills to accomplish the new goals that will present themselves in that SHTF world.
The best way to prepare for this is to practice these skills today. One such skill is being able to heat metals to such intense temperatures that they melt so that you can pour them into a mold for tools or blades.
