
If you spend anytime off-road or live in an area known for a lot of snow or mud, chances are better than even you have had a need for a winch at some point.
In some places, depending on the season, every drive is a potential to get yourself stuck if you are not careful.
Winches are like drill presses – you do not need them often, but when you do, you sure are glad you have one – or wish you did.
Fortunately, even if you do not have an electric or mechanized winch, you do have options if you have a stout rope, a barrel pole and a lever pole.
In an emergency, this type of hand-cranked winch could be indispensable!

I saw an easier way on an Alaska show. Loop a strap or rope. Put a pole in between the 2 ropes or straps, then twist till your vehicle is out. It’s a bit more dangerous but it’s a lot simpler.
The result from both polls, call a tow truck.
