I don't know about you, but a lot of time I see articles and videos offering advice on what to include in a bug-out bag or survival kit and think to myself “That would be really cool. If only I had a few thousand dollars hanging around that I did not know what to do with!”

It is not that the advice is bad – often it is invaluable, but when you add up every single component in the bug-out bag or survival kit, the overall cost is well over a thousand dollars and sometimes, more than that.

For many, not only is spending that type of cash unwise in the sense of good stewardship, it is impossible in the sense of pennies available.
