Protecting yourself from the elements when you're dealing with wind, hail, rain, or snow is vital to your survival, especially post-collapse. Without the proper shelter, you'll likely die from awful weather conditions more quickly than you'll die from getting sick or starving.

There are many options as to which type of shelter you can build so you'll be ready to face that pivotal SHTF situation. Many preppers utilize their tent as a quick bug out shelter, but tents aren't always the way to go.

Why is that? Well, the portability of a tent is nice, but tents don't have durable walls that are strong enough to protect you from the elements. A long-term shelter, on the other hand, will be able to withstand harsh weather conditions and will keep you safe when you need it the most.

One survivalist came up structure suitable for doomsday based off of the concept of durability and portability. Wait until you see it!

On the next page, you'll be in awe when you see this bug out shelter this survivalist constructed. Watch the video and decide for yourself if you too would build this type of bug out home.

Make it in camo and 1/2 size bigger and I think people would keep have one at the ready, for bugging out.

I have seen this before. It is cool, and if you think about it, you could make some for the homeless. Put wheels on one end and it would be portable.

Needs to be forest green or desert tan. Maybe camo paint the outside. It might work then.

Good idea, just not for long term because it would be a little tight on space, in my opinion

I’ll stick with my expedition tent. It’s a little more expensive, but packs up a lot smaller than 4×8. I also KNOW it can withstand snow and any weather you can throw at it.
You would need a truck with a 4×8 bed to transport that and the stuff in it.

There’s no insulation in extreme cold it needs a simple heat source or a simple form of insulation.
