Protecting yourself from the elements when you're dealing with wind, hail, rain, or snow is vital to your survival, especially post-collapse. Without the proper shelter, you'll likely die from awful weather conditions more quickly than you'll die from getting sick or starving.
There are many options as to which type of shelter you can build so you'll be ready to face that pivotal SHTF situation. Many preppers utilize their tent as a quick bug out shelter, but tents aren't always the way to go.
Why is that? Well, the portability of a tent is nice, but tents don't have durable walls that are strong enough to protect you from the elements. A long-term shelter, on the other hand, will be able to withstand harsh weather conditions and will keep you safe when you need it the most.
One survivalist came up structure suitable for doomsday based off of the concept of durability and portability. Wait until you see it!
On the next page, you'll be in awe when you see this bug out shelter this survivalist constructed. Watch the video and decide for yourself if you too would build this type of bug out home.

I have always considered building dirt and rock filled log walls and a log roof around a tent. Thinking that would work well. Any thoughts?
I don’t see the point of this. If I’m bugging in, then I want something far more substantial that that. If I bugging out I can’t take it. What scenario would I use this?
looks lke an oversized mailbox! LOL! – but seriously, unassembled I suppose the weight is not much to take with – where ever that may be- but once assembled- not going to go aywhere very fast if you must bug-out again.. neat concept, ad I think there could be good use for this, just not wen needing to be nomadic, no..

I saw the YouTube video for this it’s really quite roomy for the size
Ok around a small tent with plenty of room around it for daily living.
Its good if you can stay in one place as a sleeping shelter or when the weather is bad.
this has been out for awhile but it still pretty awesome might make one myself
Could someone please tell me what it is made of?
I have data limits/ throttling, can’t watch the vid but I’d love to know.
Thanks.
What is it made of/from?
I can’t watch the vid to see.
Jerry Deaton , hope this helps http://www.doityourselfrv.com/diy-coroplast-bicycle-camper/
Fire excape?
Ah, thanks.
You’ve just described a fort
corrugated plastic sheeting.. ‘plastic cardboard’
sturdy pocket knife 😉
The survival dog house
It would be a great thing to have hidden off the beaten path near a small town or city for refuge ….. Withcost so low place numerous ones along bug out path ….. Near running water and such ….. Maybe bury in a small mound of dirt with vent tube hidden in stump so not to be seen door way covered till needed ….
– yeah.. paint it something to blend in – that YELLOW! – wow! LOL!! cover with netting, and branches leaves or pine needles…etc. or PLANT something and space it to fit there once assembled.. .. not too sure about burying it. unless you are prepared to caulk it up all around. the weight may be too much, even with just wet organic debrislike leaves and such… hmm hmmm…
Kimi, I could only see the words corrugated plastic sheeting but your comment disappears when I click to expand it.
Thanks, though. That helps.
🙂
Click baiting
this guy is cool…check out his other projects like a folding boat made of coroplast that fits in the trunk of your car !
Mold would be an issue.
Don’t go to the video. Dumb, dumb, dumb.
you be a sitting duck. the feds surround you, and kill you where you sleep
why stay in one place? travel light, and unnoticed.
Watched this fellow on YouTube a few times. He comes up with some funny stuff.

It’s way to small.

For homeless is a good idead. For bugging out disaster. Big yellow dog house target. Not so good.
That’s cool as hell.
The ’50s are back!
Is it the Beatles yellow submarine?
For a dog house it wouldn’t be bad. For a persons home its horrible. Can’t even stand in it.
I’d build one a little bigger. Nice concept but to small of an application. A small one like shown in video could be used for a cache though (in darker colors and concealed or buried) though.
Similar idea already being done with more room. You could stand in this particular one if short enough.
Jeanette
It’s small
have you ever watched a cat waiting to grab a mouse, please keep your gund cared for and oiled,, i hate to take dirty guns
Waste of time
Stupid
If survival is your game. Better by far to have a small subdued tent.
I have seen another kind of shelter right on here. It is bike transportable, there was another one a little bigger bike or motorcycle towable. Both just one man.
Cory, that brick and corrugated hut looks like something from a London bomb shelter.
This particular one was for refugees of an earthquake.
Yeah, I would cammie paint it and get camo netting too.
My RV is probably a better idea, for bug out.
I Want one.
Lame…
