(VIDEO) This Survival Hack Will Blow Your Mind: How to Star a Fire With Sugar and Without Matches

starting a fire with sugar

If your matches are wet and your lighter is out of fuel, it's frustrating trying to get a friction fire going. You may have other issues going on too, such as it's a cloudy day and your magnifying glass is rendered useless. Who has tons of hours to waste trying to get that fire going?!

If that sounds like something you've gone through then I would consider that a pretty rough time in the woods. Luckily, if you've ever gone through a chemistry class (it's okay, high school counts), then you can whip up a useful little fire with some sugar you can find in your household and some potassium permanganate.

This is actually an easy trick that utilizes the chemical nature of two main ingredients. It'll start a flame that's more than hot enough to ignite the tinder you can find while you're bugging out.

You'll be amazed at just how easy this fire starting method is. Watch how to make it happen on the video after the break.
