If you are going through a survival situation where the weather is awful, having the right shelter is one of the most important things. Without it, you'll likely die from the elements a lot more quickly than you die from starving or getting sick.

Luckily there are many options available as to what kind of shelter you should select and build so you'll be ready to face a SHTF moment. A lot of survivalists use their tent as a go-to bug out shelter, but tents aren't always the best solution.

Think about it: Tents are portable, which is nice, but they don't have durable and rigid walls. For a long-term shelter, you need something that'll withstand the harsh elements.
