When you think of an ideal swimming companion, I’m going to go ahead and guess that the visual that comes to mind is not big and hairy with impressive canines and four paws. Unless of course, it’s a beloved dog. But a polar bear?
Although polar bear attacks on humans rarely occur, they are incredibly dangerous. And according to recent studies, they are becoming more frequent.
Research suggests that with sea ice melting, polar bears are forced to adapt and spend a longer amount of time onshore. With that, there is an increase in human-bear interaction.
And that can be a terrifying thing, considering how they are the largest carnivore living on land, and how they can decapitate a human with a swing of their paw!
