Shelter is one of the top priorities in any survival situation. The Principle of 3's says in extreme situations, you have three hours to get to shelter or build one, to survive.

But what if you're faced with a long term survival situation and have to build a shelter that can stand multiple days in extreme weather?

A temporary shelter may not be enough and certainly would be extremely uncomfortable, even dangerous.

This particular shelter is designed for cold weather, but it has easy application in moderate and even hotter environments.

The only artificial elements of this long-term shelter are the ties or rope needed to bind it together, which could be accomplished with zip ties, paracord or simple twine.
