The “Rule of Threes” states that you can survive three weeks without food, three days without water, and three hours without shelter. This is important because it outlines the top three priorities and how important they are to your survival.

Granted, if the weather is fantastic and you have no wind or precipitation to worry about, you will do fairly well without shelter, but this rule is intended for undesirable circumstances.

With shelter at the top of your list of priorities, there are a lot of ways you can go about providing yourself with a suitable shelter to keep the warm in, cold out, and block the wind and rain.
