(VIDEO) These Survival Tips Can Get You Killed. Whatever You Do, Don’t Follow Them:

trying to stay alive

Successful survival depends upon knowing what will get you killed and what will get you out alive. These days, unfortunately, many people have conflicting views about what's true, thanks in part to Hollywood and many popular survival shows. In the video below, you will see the top 5 most prevalent myths that will likely get you killed.

Of course, it's hopefully becoming more common knowledge that you shouldn't suck out snake venom. “Oh, I was just bitten by a rattler? I'd better cut open the wound and suck the venom into my mouth, where it can creep down my throat or enter my bloodstream through my gums.”

This way of thinking will hopefully die out altogether now that Hollywood westerns are no longer a thing. However, many people still subscribe to the belief that your priority should be food, thanks to many survival shows that depict the hosts hunting down the game before they've even found water or built a shelter.

Another tip that's important to take from this: if you have water, drink it. Your body won't slow down its water consumption just because you've decided you want to conserve it. Drinking water when you get thirsty will help prevent early exhaustion and will enable you to keep a clear head for just a little bit longer.
