If the grid goes down I do not think that people are going to go crazy and start shooting each other. There may be a few of those who were raised in the poverty stricken inner cities that do that, because that is what they know. But on the most part I think that people will try to help one another and maybe even form communities. Now I myself do not own any kind of weapon, because I do not like killing anything and also because I am vicious activist and there are of people that would love to find some kind of charge on me. But I do believe that it is coming to a point that it may be necessary that Americans take the same action as the American colonist did before 1776.
