Food is a paramount priority if you find yourself in a survival situation.

You can last about three weeks without it and it is not as much a priority immediately as shelter, water, and fire.

But sooner or later, it becomes the critical obstacle to you making it out of your situation healthy and safe.

Not every survival situation, however, will find us with food in supply and sometimes foraging for food is just not an option (like in Winter.)

If that is the case, you do have options.

One option is to make your own spear for hunting small game or fish.

We show you how in the video on the next page.

That thing is crazily bulky. To hell with trying to loft that ill-weighted staff at game. It is, in my opinion, a bad design/idea.

Wonder what the success rate is for spear hunters against traps ? About the same amount of work to get started .

A spear, outside of a club is mankind’s most basic weapon. Anyone today should now how to make one. If our ancestors could, we should.

In a survival situation you should always trap and always be prepared to actively hunt but only if the situation presents itself ie) walking between traps checking them and you see a rabbit, take a shot at it. Energy spent over energy gained is your main concern
