Good communication is the key to the survival of any relationship, whether that relationship is between a couple, parents and their children, or a boss and her employees.

Likewise, effective communication will be an important factor to keep your team alive in a post-SHTF scenario. Usually, this communication will be carried out in the same way that it is today, such as questions about what chores need to be done and when dinner will be ready.

You won't always be able to talk, however. There may be times when you suspect your territory is being raided and you and your team or family have to maneuver silently to either get out of the area alive or push the intruders out of the area.

In those circumstances, being familiar with tactical hand signals to express what you need from other members of your group is going to be essential.
