Finding the right weapon to depend upon in the wild is not the easiest choice one will ever experience. Many will choose to simply use their survival knives in order to craft weapons of their own out in the wilderness. The problem with this is that it can often take time that they don't have.

Another route is often to pack a firearm for survival hunting, but the main weaknesses here are that firearms become absolutely useless when one part breaks, and will be difficult to keep clean and functioning properly in the dirt and the mud of the wilderness.

An obvious choice now is a bow, but they can be bulky and require a significant level of skill in order to depend on in most survival situations.
