[VIDEO] See How To Make This Cool Thatched Shelter

We’ve seen many methods to make a shelter on these pages, including using drop-cloths and tarps. But this time we are going very natural, with a shelter made of branches and spruce.

Our host, a quiet and laconic gentleman, gives minimal instruction. He believes showing is the best aid he can give and it is very effective.
He uses hazel branches as the “bones” of the structure, citing how flexible they are. We see him weaving the branches in and out of each other, forming a strong but bendable erection.

The thatching is spruce, which fans out over the entire edifice, also weaved in and out, binding and patching holes should a rainstorm commence.

Go to page two and watch this awesome video. It’s fascinating and definitely gives you the “I can do that!” feeling.
