Many homesteaders do everything from building their own home, planting their own garden and even preserving their own meat. It takes time and patience but gives them something to be proud of and also helps them provide for their families.

In the video below from An American Homestead, this guy shows us how he made venison hard salami using a truly old fashioned method. Wait until you see how he did it!

This process is amazing! They took some salt, celery powder, some red wine for flavor, some netting, butcher's twine and beef intestines to turn venison into hard salami by curing it.

To do that they measured out all the ingredients, mixed them together and then put it in a machine to make the salami casings. Then they put netting on the salami to hang them in the smokehouse. Finally, they hung them in their pantry for about four months to finish curing and aging them.

This process takes some work and time but the finished product is sure to be delicious!
