Your knife is one of the most important tools and weapons you will have in your survival arsenal.

Keeping your knife in great shape in a survival situation, however, can be a challenge.

Every time you use it, you are dulling it, which means it is less effective the next time you need to use it.

Knowing how to sharpen you knife is critical as is knowing what household materials you can use if you do not have access to your honing stone or knife sharpener.

For instance, unglazed ceramic edges, like on the bottom of ceramic coffee cups is a great stone to use to sharpen just about every type of knife except for knives made of the hardest steel.
