When SHTF, we are going to face a lot of problems. The power will likely be out, who knows for how long? Without power, there goes the refrigerator, the freezer, all lights and *gasp* the internet.

These are the things a lot of people worry about for SHTF scenarios. But one thing that will also not work is the washing machine. It draws an awful lot of power, so even if you have solar or a gas generator, you probably won't want a washing machine draining your energy stores.

So how are you going to clean your clothes if you don't have a washing machine to depend on? Of course, you could just pick up a washboard from the local antique store and rely on that, but there is a much cheaper and probably more efficient option.
