There were at least two examples of making a key for a lock and we found these fascinating.
Initially, we came in thinking if we already had a key why would we need to make another? But the point is, what if you lost the original key? It might be a great idea to make one or two copies of that key just to be safe.

Why not just use the key you used to make the template for the can lid key?
It’s kind of a stupid video. I mean.. like using the two open end box wrenches to open a “shitty” lock? If it’s metal master lock, good luck using that technique. And the one where you make a key from tin or plastic to unlock the lock? You need a “key” in the first place to make a “duplicate.” :/ Lame.
I can open a master lock with a zip tie or a soft hit with a hammer now a good American lock they are hard to pick

With a good peace of metal you can snap almost any lock
Use a pop can cut a chunk off make one side longer and skinnier put the skinny side around the side that locks slide it down and boom open lock
This has nothing to do with homesteading
