But makes it very hard to see out of at night time. Try it, you’ll see. Even with 0000 steel wool it still scratches. Produces very bad glare at night.

An sos pad does the same thing, lightly apply pressure after wetting and clean all glass and mirrors as well as your chrome and whitewall tires. Oh yeah!

My dad taught me this when I got my first car! If you get scratches while using 0000 steel wool then you either didn’t clean the window before hand, or you have dirty steel wool. I’ve done this with every car I’ve owned and have never had a problem with scratches. Glass looks as good as new!

Use a white scouring pad not green or any other color, just white. I tint windows for a living and we use white scouring pads on glass so it doesn’t scratch the glass and won’t destroy the rear defrost. Also removes acid rain on the outside.

The glass is very much harder than the steel wool. It won’t hurt the glass. I used to use it all the time on glass and chrome on new Cadillacs.

On my windshields, I use the non abrasive blue scour pad found at Dollar Tree in the cleaning section and the 1886 version of Bon Ami. These provide a wonderful, deep clean and stops the wiper blades from chattering (provided your wiper blades aren’t beyond their useful life).

Work at a dealership. Use steel wool all the time to get spots and hard to remove remove blemishes on the glass. Can also use a buffer and some compound to remove any scratches that might get there. Have never seen the steel wool scratch it. If you don’t believe it try some an old picture frame or something first
