You may already have a Bic lighter or two in your bug out bag, and likely have a few dozen in your long term bug out supplies. But should that be your only lighter in a survival situation?

What makes this trick work for the Zippo is the fact that it shoots much larger sparks than any Bic lighter, making it much easier to catch those sparks onto a bit of cotton or char cloth. An additional benefit not discussed in the video is the fact that a Zippo can burn several types of fuel poured in its reservoir, not just lighter fluid.

Near the end of the video, the presenter also showed how he has extra flints stored in the bottom of his lighter, an excellent bit of advice for the long-term survivalist.

It turns out the Zippo isn't just for the cool guy to light his cigarettes with or toss in a puddle of gasoline.
