Looking for a new way to light your fires? The new rage with survival fire-starting tools seems to be with firesteel.
For those that aren’t familiar with firesteel, it is a piece of alloyed steel that creates sparks when struck with a scraper.
Firesteel is convenient to carry, can light tinder when your backup bic lighter refuses to cooperate, and it requires almost no setup, unlike a fire piston.
However, firesteel can occasionally be difficult to use as its sparks sometimes die out before touching the tinder. But Survivor Lilly has got our back.
Take a look at the video on the next page as she teaches us the correct technique for using a firesteel, along with which tinder is best to use with your firesteel!
