Having clean drinking water on hand, or a reliable way to get clean drinking water, is the most important consideration you need to make for your survival preparations; you can survive quite awhile without food, but not very long without water. The most expensive aspect of this build is going to be the filters themselves. After all, they are the most important part and without them, you're just stacking two buckets on top of each other. A great method to employ with this setup would be to have several filtration buckets prepared so that you can have a great deal of water being cleaned at once.

As a minimum, you should consider having at least one system per person for drinking and cooking.
