While we are all about preparation on these pages there may come a time, despite all our efforts, that we are lacking. It’s always a good idea to have a backup plan if you discover yourself suddenly without many of your much-needed supplies. This is where many hacks come into play.

We can just picture the storm of the century coming into our town, drenching us with rain then – boom! – the electricity goes out. No problem. We have candles and flashlights! Yet, what if something more serious like a SHTF scenario hits instead?

All those flashlights and candles will be great for a while but eventually, you are going to run out of batteries and wax. You will need to think of an alternate and hopefully very simple way to have light at night.

Why not bring out a stick of butter? You heard us right. Butter!
